Day 42 - Zero in Hesperia - PCT 2024

Miles Hiked: 0

Total Ascent: 0

Total Descent: 0

My cough is bad but my knee is feeling a bit better. Still not 100% but I think that will take some time. It’s tender. I’m debating taking a double zero but I really want to get back on trail. The climb up to Wrightwood is huge; 7000 feet over 27 miles. I’m struggling with my decision because I don’t want to hurt my knee. I certainly can’t lay up forever. But will an extra day help? I don’t know. As of right now, I’m heading back to trail in the morning but I’ll make the final decision in the morning.

I went to Target this morning and bought cough syrup which is helping the cough. I feel completely fine outside of that and my knee, of course. No idea where this cough came from. Hoping it’ll pass quickly. I also resupplied for 3 days. I’m going to give myself extra time to make it to Wrightwood. It’s only 27 miles but it’s going up into snow again. The weather has been beautiful this week and the forecast looks lovely next week. I’m hoping for some snow melt around Baden Powell but we will see.

Not much excitement today as I’m just resting my knee. It’s fabulous sleeping in a bed though!
