Day 46 - Zero in Wrightwood - PCT 2024
Miles Hiked: 0
Total Ascent: 0
Total Descent: 0
I took a zero in Wrightwood to recover from my cough and to let my knee rest. It’s a cute town. Not much going on but the hardware store has a great hiker setup! They even have a charging station, restrooms and a great hiker box. I took some duct tape to wrap around my pole since I’ve been out since my shoe fiasco back in Mission Creek.
I decided to put my thicker socks in the hiker box and replace them with lightweight Darn Toughs. A hiker outside scooped my socks and gave me a pair of his Darn Toughs that had a hole in them to exchange inside. Lucky me! I was fully prepared to buy socks but Darn Tough has a stellar warranty and the fine folks at the store exchanged the holey socks without hassle. But they’ll only allow one pair per person and this hiker had already exchanged a pair. My thick Darn Toughs were in excellent condition so he was thrilled and I was happy to not have to buy socks. Win win!
I resupplied from my Bacountry Foodie package I bounced from Cabazon and supplemented at Wrightwood Fine Foods.
For dinner I wandered over to the Grizzly Cafe and had their prime rib special. It was delicious.
Back on trail tomorrow. Not looking forward to the snow!
